How to obtain a domain name?

Post by ccb056 »

How would I go about obtaining a domain name if I already have a website host?

I want to register at godaddy but I'm not sure if I should do forwarding with or without masking or use a nameserver.

I'm not sure what a nameserver is or if I need one. I don't want the domain name just to point and redirect to an IP address.

Any ideas? :?

look, .zapto.org is a dynamic DNS. That means it can become to domain name.. All you have to do is type in the server IP on godaddy and make that the domain.. Dont foward.. I'll do it for you if you want.

I think I need a nameserver, no? If I just forward a domain name to an ip address, every url will not have the domain name, rather, it would have the ip address. I think.
