Artificial Intelligence

Does anyone know if any complicated form of AI exists today? I'm not talking about pre-defined algorithims, im talking about self-creating/execution code.

I"m currently working on a program that acts like a cell sort of and uses a database to track genes, and evolves like the first prokaryotes evolved. Its a long way from completion though. When its done, if programmed properly, it could take over the internet !!!

An AI starts out as a predefined algorithm, but its the predefiend algortithm that leads to a creation of new code. The only way to get this to work is to make it have a goal, prob. the best goal would be that would last the longest would be "what is best for the computer"
