DVD's don't work in all players

After "backing up" a few movies I noticed that my Panasonic DVD player ...about 2 yrs old has no trouble playing the movies burned with my Lite On 811. However my new Samsung (didn't pay too much for) does not play them very well at all ... sound breaks up and picture has lots of problems. When I burned at 4x ... this machine would not read the movies at all .... burning at 2.4x has better results but still not as good as the perfect picture with the Panasonic.

I am using cheap DVD +R disks.

Is there something I should know about here.

Could it be the +R disks?

Or are there some settings I can adjust when I burn?

Not all DVD players will play all DVD media. Sometimes it's the dye that's used in the DVD media, sometimes it's the player, everything comes into play. Just try using more expensive media, as stated above, and see if that helps.

I am currently using a Panasonic DVD Recorder to record onto TDK DVD-Rs using the Flexiable Record mode under the Dubbing Function. I got a pack of 50 DVD-Rs for $17.99 at Best Buy. As my dad and I were shopping, we came across this sweet deal and bought about 700 DVDs. I have tested these DVDs out on many DVD players including a DVD Recorder, a regular DVD player, a DVD-ROM on both a computer and a laptop and on a portable DVD player. I am yet to have any problems.

It may not be DVD"s not to lag on this, but i've heard from multiple people that Samsung products aren't very good. I hate their cellphones.

Might I suggest taiyo yuden or here for around .44 cents a DVD They're the best CD and DVD quality out there.

I'm burning my files to fairly expensive Sony DVD+R discs (5 discs for $

yet my panasonic dvd players say they can't read my discs. I get a message from my DVD player that says something like "This disc is not compatible with this player" or something like that. I'm leaving my files in a folder and burning them to the disc, that can't be the problem, can it?
