http://www.newegg.com/app/ViewProductDe ... 445&depa=1
some stats
PM 1.7Ghz----------A64M 2.0Ghz
400Mhz FSB--------400Mhz FSB
64KbL1--------------128KbL2
2MbL2---------------1Mb L2
0.09Micron----------0.13Micron
you choose
if any of yall knw whats the IPC on both mobiles please post it in here
i chose those 2 versions 1.7pm and 2.0a64 because they are both about the same price, would 300mhz make that much of a difference?
Money can buy what you don't have.

The Pentium M is actually a good architecture, not the slop that is Netburst (Pentium 4). The Athlon 64 does not have a 400Mhz FSB, it doesnt even have a FSB. It has an on-die memory controler :)

Well, if you want a 64-Bit FarCry, you will have to go with the Athlon 64 Mobile.

I wish I could get my hands on all the Dothans and Athlon 64 Mobiles (62W) so I can test them with 3DMark03.

EDIT: According to the AMDForums, the PM has an IPC of 8 and the K8 has an IPC of 11.

8*2=16 (2.0GHz Dothan)
11*2.2=24.2 (3400)
11*2.0=22 (3200)
11*1.8=19.8 (3000/2800)
11*1.6=17.6 (2700)

At max IPC, the Dothan Pentium M doesn't stand a chance.
Athlon XP 3200 3DMark05 Score: 3460 GeForce 6600 GT 3DMark05 Score: 3132 14304 SETI Results: Athlon 64 2800 Athlon XP 3200 Athlon XP 2100 Athlon XP 1800 Pentium 3 Celeron 667MHz If you haven't played Descent 3, you aren't a gamer.
