Problems running windows and recovery console

Post by London_Mo »

Hi, I have this problem running windows on my laptop so what I have been doing is booting from the Windows XP Home CD so that I can perform the recovery console. When I press R to repar it goes to Dos Prompt and say's the following. "The path or file specified is not valid" I tried again and this time if I pressed enter instead of R to intsall XP I get this:- "28616 MB Disk 0 at ID 0 on bus 0 on atapi" <setup cannot access this disk> What does this mean? could it be a software problem or the hardware problem because I can't run windows on my laptop anymore. I would be very grateful for any response. Regards. Mo.

check to see if the cd is scratched and if it isnt, try reformating the entire hard drive in ntfs and start over.
