locked disk utility?

Post by ELB_Keeper »

Hello,

My computer will not read discs off of either of my drives. I tried running a virus scan on the drives to see if that was the problem, but all I got was a window telling me the disk utility is locked. The window said I need to unlock the disk utility. Can anyone tell me how to do this?

Thanks!!!

My bad. CD-ROM... I have a regular CD-Rom drive and a CD-RW/CD-ROM combo, neither of which will read.

right click "my computer", properties, device manager

make sure nothing has a yellow asterisk next to it

reinstall the drivers or update them if possible

No yellow asterisks....

according to the properties, "no driver files are required or have been loaded for this device"

I tried updating the driver, but it said that the best driver is already in place. Should I try using a different driver?

No, there is no need to change drivers.
